Program Description
Intro to AgTech engages New York City-based young adults ages 18-to-24 who are out of school or un-/underemployed in learning about the intersections of agriculture, technology, and construction to jumpstart their careers.
During the 8-week training (140 hours), participants assist in designing & building a home or community smart farm using soilless farming methods & integrative technologies. In addition to our hands-on training, we provide in-depth career development support, including resume workshops, mock interviews with our partners in our Employer Partner Network, and our Work Readiness Assessment to qualify participants’ readiness for various points of entry into the job market.
We match participants with 3-6 month paid internship opportunities through our Employer Partner Network to develop their transferable skills. Throughout and after this period, CFFG provides professional development and job placement support so that participants can find gainful employment in our target sectors.
Agriculture
Participants learn fundamental farm design, maintenance, and food system skills to build a sustainable smart farm.
Technology
Participants gain introductory coding, programming, and 3D design skills while implementing AgTech ancillary tools into farms.
Construction
Participants develop handyman skills and learn to maintain a safe worksite throughout the farm build as they gain site safety fundamentals.
